History & building

The notary's office in Ratingen has a long tradition. In 1934, Dr. Josef Brühl was appointed as the first notary with his office in Ratingen. Notary Dr. Brühl held this office until 1950, when he was succeeded by notary Dr. Karl-Heinrich Henseler, who held office until 1966. He was succeeded in 1966 by notary Wolfgang Dahlke, who held the office of notary in Ratingen until 1992.

In 1973, the Ministry of Justice of North Rhine-Westphalia created a second notary position in Ratingen and filled it with notary Dr. Hans Theo Schumacher. Notary Dahlke and notary Dr. Schumacher formed a partnership from 1973 to 1992. In 1992, notary Dahlke was succeeded by notary Dr. Thomas Knoche, who continued the partnership with Dr. Schumacher.

In 2011, notary Dr. Jens Bormann succeeded notary Dr. Schumacher and continued the partnership with Dr. Knoche.

Notary Dr. Knoche retired with effect from 30 June 2018. His successor is notary Dr. Jan Link, who will continue to run the firm together with Dr. Bormann. Dr. Link previously worked as a notary in Moers.

Despite all the changes in the legal and economic environment, the Ratingen notary's office has always focused on providing its clients with fast, comprehensive and competent support.

Since the 1950s, our notary's office has been located in a white villa built in the Italian country house style by the well-known architect Emil Fahrenkamp, who also designed the Shell House in Berlin and the Hotel Breidenbacher Hof in Düsseldorf.

You will find our notary's office opposite the historic city wall, directly in the center of Ratingen and only a few minutes away from Düsseldorf Airport with its ICE train station and the Breitscheid freeway junction.

Parking spaces are located directly in front of the house.
